In the U.S. state of North Carolina, Interstate 274 (I-274) is the designation for a future beltway interstate route. When completed, it will connect US 158, near Clemmons, to Future I-74/US 52, in Bethania.

Currently, I-274 does not appear on any state maps nor have future corridor signs.
The "274" number is not official having not been submitted to AASHTO; however, I-274 does appear on many NCDOT planning maps.[1][2]
Work was to begin on the western section of the beltway in 1999, but was stopped by a lawsuit. When the lawsuit was resolved NCDOT then announced work would start in 2006. However, in March 2005 NCDOT postponed construction until at least 2012 due to budget shortfalls. Money planned for the western section was instead to be used to start construction on the eastern section (Future I-74) starting in 2011.[3]
A second lawsuit, however, delayed the road further. A federal district judge in May 2010 dismissed the cases accusing an updated environmental study of ignoring global warming and impact on other intersecting roads.[4] However, the high cost of building the entire project pushed the beltway to last place on a list of urban loop projects being built by the state. In March 2011, state officials agreed to rank projects using sections, which might help the eastern section move higher on a list by 2014.[5]
The western section of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway (Future I-274) is currently unfunded and has an unknown timeline on property acquisition and construction.[6][7][8]
The entire route is in Forsyth County.
